About Us

MTN Origins was built upon the idea of flipping the traditional construction company model on it’s head and doing things in a way that yields better results. Pulling from 25+ years of construction management experience, Layne was convinced that there was a better way to develop and build.

Project partners, not employees – Rather than hire employees, that might leave a project mid-way through, MTN Origins partners with key players on projects. Our Managers, Foremen, and Superintendents are contracted with MTN Origins for each specific project, giving them a sense of ownership in the project, and better incentivizing them to bring projects in on-time and on-budget.

Lean Project Development, driven by extensive pre-construction work – World class athletes know that performance on game day is actually based on years of training and preparation. The same is true of world-class design and construction. In order to tightly control budgets, quality and timelines, MTN Origins brings trade partners and design partners together in a series of pre-construction charrettes. This fosters teamwork and productive interdependency between project stakeholders resulting in less scope gaps that cause time and cost impacts. We also utilize an in-depth estimation and buyout process to tightly control pricing.

Laws of Accountability

LEVEL 5: LEADERS, MANAGERS, TECHNICIANS and PEOPLE

1. The MIRROR and the WINDOW [Jim’s Law]

When things go WRONG, I look in the MIRROR and take responsibility. When things go RIGHT, I look through the WINDOW and give praise to others. Consciously avoiding the natural tendency to do the exact opposite.

2. EXTREME OWNERSHIP [Jocko’s Law]

I take 100% RESPONSIBILITY for all things within my role and also CLEARLY COMMUNICATE to others what I need from them. No matter how diligent and thorough my efforts, if the outcome is successful or unsuccessful, I will refer to and follow Law #1.

3. COMPLETE JOB v. HALF JOB [George’s Law]

Until each task is 100% COMPLETE – finished to the highest expected or possible quality, my effort is only considered a HALF JOB. There are only PASS or FAIL grades – no credit is given for work that is almost complete or only close to my BEST EFFORT. When the result of my work is a HALF JOB, refer to Law #2.

4. STAY POSITIVE and PRESS FORWARD [Layne’s Law]

Even when following and adhering to the above law’s to the highest standard, things still might not turn out right – STAY POSITIVE & PRESS FORWARD. I will limit the duration of my “pity party” or vent session and make the conscious decision to STAY POSITIVE & PRESS FORWARD.
